The final three holes at Carnoustie are widely regarded as being the toughest closing holes on any golf course, and certainly a testing challenge for the players in the final round of The Open.
Carnoustie - Hole 17
Carnoustie has the reputation of being a very challenging and difficult golf course, and while I certainly didn't conquer it on the couple of occasions I played there, I did find it to be a pleasant, if demanding course to play. The 17th asks the player to avoid water on both the tee shot and the approach as the unforgiving Barry Burn meanders its way through the hole.
